Fantasy Football 2021: Five Players To Avoid In Week 3

fantasy football dynasty Alvin kamara

Week 2 Sure was something else, as multiple players showed us just how good they are, carrying teams to victory. So while there will be some more boom fantasy plays, I have listed below five players that will fall short of their projections in week 3. Therefore, we will once again use sleeper PPR projections to determine our five fantasy football fades this week.

QB: Taylor Heinicke Under 17.3 Fantasy Points

Taylor Heinicke and Washington are traveling to Buffalo in week 3. Heinicke is coming off a good performance in week 2, I do not expect that to continue next. The Bills have allowed 161 passing yards per game, second in the league to Carolina. On the flip side, the Washington offense is one of the slowest in the NFL through two weeks, ranking 24th with 118 plays ran. Placing a sluggish offense against a good defense is not a recipe for the quarterback to succeed.

RB: Alvin Kamara Under 21.9 Fantasy Points

Alvin Kamara is one of the best running backs in the NFL in his first few years in the league. He is a weapon who has confounded the NFL to this point. Enter Bill Belichick, someone who specializes in taking your best player away.

Belichick will make someone other than Kamara beat him this week because the Saints lack talent at the skill positions. Given the projected points at 43, I don’t think Kamara will be heavily involved in the passing attack. This matchup screams a fade for Kamara in fantasy football, as it will likely be a defensive battle between two of the best in the NFL.

WR: Deebo Samuel Under 16.2 Fantasy Points

Deebo Samuel is going up against Jaire Alexander and the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. As great as he has been for two weeks, Deebo has yet to face an elite talent like Alexander this year. Alexander is one of, if not the best, corners in the NFL. He will take away the most prominent receiving option for the 49ers.

Sunday is a George Kittle game, mixed in with running to keep Green Bay honest. Deebo will have a role, but will not be the focal point of this passing attack that he has been early in the year.

TE: Tyler Higbee Under 11 Fantasy Points

Tyler Higbee faces the Buccaneers linebackers in week three. They are the best in the NFL at what they do – pressure the quarterback, and shut down receivers in the passing game. Last week, Higbee earned one target. This will become a trend, with the offense dominated by Kupp and Woods. The Rams will take advantage of the corners by using Woods and Kupp to beat them consistently.

Flex: Odell Beckham Jr. Under 14.01 Fantasy Points

I will take the under on Odell Beckham. There are multiple issues at play for Beckham as he rehabs from his significant injury. It will likely be a slow start. Given his matchup against Jaylon Johnson of the Bears (PFF’s defensive player of the week) who blanked the Bengals star duo Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in Week 2, I would look at other players to start over Beckham this week.

Jesse Moeller is a fascinating character. By day, he's a restaurant manager, but during his free time, he transforms into a fantasy football analyst. He's been playing fantasy football since 1999, which means he's been around the block a few times. But his passion for the game has never waned. Jesse is a devoted husband to his wife Andrea, whom he's been married to for five years. They have a lovely daughter Cecilia, who is now four years old. Jesse's journey into content creation began with The League Winners in 2021, and he hasn't looked back since. Dynasty is his passion, and his love for the game is infectious. Jesse is a true degenerate who loves the fantasy football and the community that supports it.
