Fantasy Football 2021: Waiver Wire Week 7

fantasy football

Week seven is known as this year’s ‘Byemageddon‘ in the fantasy football world. With a season high six teams being on bye this week, make sure you are getting your replacements in. The teams on bye this are as follows:

  • Bills
  • Cowboys
  • Jaguars
  • Chargers
  • Vikings
  • Steelers

Be sure to get any players from those teams out of your lineup for the upcoming week. Obviously roster space is limited, so be sure to do your due diligence when making any transactions. As always, all roster percentages are via ESPN Fantasy Football. The threshold to qualify a player for my weekly waiver list is 65% or less.

Quarterbacks

Going forward I think it is best to transform the quarterback section into more of a list rather than a detailed segment. There are plenty of options each week, and it’s not fair to limit the selection to just four or five. I will have several players in this segment going forward, ranked accordingly from worst to first. These rankings will be my opinion and will be followed by a very short blurb as to why I believe they belong in that spot.

10. Geno Smith SEA vs NO (5.6% Rostered) – Geno Smith may not have massive upside to win you games, but he’s similar to Teddy Bridgewater; He won’t lose you games.

9. Daniel Jones NYG vs CAR (40.3% Rostered) – Two down weeks and is still in the top-12 for QBs. His rushing upside makes him a worthy candidate against a tough defense

8. Carson Wentz IND @ SF (18.1% Rostered) – A QB2 who can provide an average week for a desperte team.

7. Teddy Bridgewater DEN @ CLE(16.9% Rostered) – Teddy Bridgewater has been a serviceable QB2. He is a solid play if you’re struggling to find other options.

6. Sam Darnold CAR @ NYG (41.9% Rostered) – Struggled the last two weeks, but plays the beaten down Giants.

5. Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs ATL (25.3% Rostered) – Tua played very well against the Jags in London. Look for the same against the Falcons.

4. Jameis Winston NO @ SEA (22.8% Rostered) – Seattle has an awful defense and Winston knows how to sling it. For the record Michael Thomas will not be returning just yet.

3. Matt Ryan ATL @ MIA (29.1% Rostered) – Matt Ryan looks in form and will continue down in Miami.

2. Ryan Tannehill TEN vs KC (64% Rostered) – Tannehill will be playing catchup to the Chiefs. He’ll be throwing the ball.

1. Derek Carr LV vs PHI (47% Rostered) – Derek Carr is match-up proof. He is a solid top-15 player every week.

Running Backs

Khalil Herbert CHI @ TB ( 65% Rostered) – The Bucs are a tough defense for running backs, but Khalil Herbert is getting the workload with or without Damien Williams. Play him knowing he could easily bust against this match-up.

Michael Carter NYJ @ NE (60.1% Rostered) – Carter has scored in two straight games. He has every chance to make it three against the division rival Patriots. He is the clear starter now in this backfield and is a must-stash going forward in fantasy football.

Elijah Mitchell SF vs IND (59.5% Rostered) – Mitchell should take over this backfield due to poor play by his peers. Elijah Mitchell fits the Raheem Mostert build more than anyone else. He’s the best option for that team.

Alex Collins SEA vs NO (50.5% Rostered) – Remember Chris Carson? Alex Collins fits the bill just fine. He should produce RB2-ish/Flex numbers in Carson’s absence.

JD McKissic WSH @ GB (46.2% Rostered) – With or without Gibson, McKissic is a great PPR flex option for fantasy football. He is Similar to Nyheim Hines and if Gibson misses time due to his shin injury Keep an eye on Jaret Patterson as well if Gibson misses time.

Wide Receivers

Darnell Mooney CHI @ TB (45.8% Rostered) – Mooney has been inconsistent, but needs to be rostered in all fantasy football leagues. His talent is too good to not store on your bench. He is a match-up based play, and falls into the category this week against the Bucs.

Tim Patrick DEN @ CLE (40.5% Rostered) – Tim Patrick is one of the most consistent wide receivers in the league. He hasn’t had a drop in about 150 targets and is neither a boom or bust player. He is just pure production and should be rostered in all formats.

AJ Green ARI vs HOU (32.9% Rostered) – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Get any Cardinal you can on your team.

Christian Kirk ARI vs HOU (25.1% Rostered) – Reference ‘AJ Green’ seen above.

Donovan Peoples-Jones CLE vs DEN (1.2% Rostered) – With all the injuries to the Browns wide receivers, DPJ has been the go-to guy for Baker Mayfield. He is a solid flex until the Browns are 100% healthy.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry NE vs NYJ (58.8% Rostered) – Another game another touchdown for Henry. Slowly, but surely becoming a favorite target for Mac Jones.

Zach Ertz ARI vs HOU (48.3% Rostered) – It was weird typing Arizona next to Zach Ertz’s name. This was a positive outcome for Ertz and like I’ve said before. Roster all Cardinals.

Ricky Seals-Jones WSH @ GB (20% Rostered) – RSJ is a top-10 tight end in fantasy football until Logan Thomas returns.

D/ST Streamers

Carolina Panthers @ NYG (58.3% Rostered) – A top three defense against an injury riddled Giants team. Sign me up.

New England Patriots vs NYJ (57.7% Rostered) – The Jets have given up the second most points to D/ST. Mix that with a very good defense and you get fantasy gold.

Arizona Cardinals vs HOU (50.7% Rostered) – The Cardinals are LEGIT. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Kicker of the Week

Trying to be less chalk with my kicker of the week. Mason Crosby is my guy for week seven against the Washington Football Team.
